Achieving God’s Design for Marriage
This comprehensive curriculum for marriage enrichment consists of 328 pages chock full of material to help those who teach and enrich marriages. This manual can be used as a guide for leaders who conduct in-depth marriage workshops at churches, conference centers, retreat settings, colleges and Sunday School classes. Achieving God’s Design for Marriage offers a three-part strategy for growth: Biblical instruction (where good, practical Biblical content is taught), small group discussion (where couples discuss and help one another apply the principles taught) and private couple sharing (where couples make decisions about how the subject material will be applied in their own relationship). Eleven chapters address topics such as how to build better communication, how to control anger, how to improve joint decision making, how to enhance physical and spiritual intimacy, how to set goals, and how to develop relationship skills. Besides the actual teaching material there is a chapter detailing how to plan a weekend retreat, appendices for overhead transparency masters, seminar/retreat schedules, checklist for retreat preparation, TIPS for group discussion leaders, and even menus and food buying lists if you have to arrange for your own meals at a retreat center.

There are three focal points in this ministry: to provide support and accountability for someone whose marriage is in crisis - even with an unwilling spouse, to equip pastors and lay leaders with tools, materials, and training for these couples in order to come alongside them in a way that will help all those involved to avoid the two most common mistakes: rescuing-thus burning out, and avoidance-for lack of knowing what to do, and to help the Christian community be prepared for a "first response" to someone whose marriage is in crisis.
